How Do Home Exchanges Work?
- You join Hombie and are allocated points on joining.
- You use your points to stay in a home/apt/holiday home you have chosen and the owner (host) has agreed to allow you to stay for the time period chosen.
- Your home is listed on Hombie and you receive more points when another trusted user of Hombie books and stays at your home. You get to choose who stays.
- You go on holidays to your chosen destination whilst another Hombie user stays in your home and takes care of it while your away.
- Its that simple.

How Do Hombies Travel Points Work?
Hombies points are a fantastic, exciting way to travel domestically and internationally without paying for accommodation. It’s that easy.
- You list your home, holiday home, and/or apartment we asign your property a nightly points value. Your Hombie points are worked out by us depending on the type of home you are exchanging and other factors. For a full description see our Hombie points page.
- Once you have your designated Hombie points, you can go holiday hunting and find a home in the area you are looking at.
- When you agree on a property and your host accepts you to use their home, your points are deducted and transferred to your host.
- Your holidays are now set for the dates you have advised through the Hombie platform.
- Then, when somebody requests to use your home and you accept them, you receive their points.
You Receive 2000 Hombie Points. How?
Your home is designated at 200 HP per day.
You exchanged your home for 10 days.
200 points x 10 days = 2000HP
You go on Holidays ..... In Europe
5 days in France and 5 days in Italy. Wow, can you imagine?
Value of the home in France is 200 HP per day. You stay 5 days. 5 x 200 =1000HP.
Value of the home in Italy is 150 HP per day. 5 x 150 = 750HP
Total for holiday is 1,750 HP. You still have 250 HP to use now or in the future.

A home exchange involves exchanging your residence with another party’s home for a specified time, enabling both parties to enjoy accommodation without traditional hotel costs. On Hombie we use a points system allowing you to choose multiple residences for the time period you are away.
What is a House Swap?
A house swap is where you swap your house with somebody elses in the same time period. They come to your house and you go to theirs.
Is Home Exchanging and House Swapping Safe?
Having someone else staying in your house can be a daunting thought. When you do it once, you will wonder what you were worried about. As long as the other party has been verified and you have found them to be similar to yourselves, they will look after your house like you are looking after theirs.
Do I need to own my home to participate in a home exchange?
No, renters can participate in a Hombie home exchanges. However, it’s crucial to review your rental agreement and obtain permission from your landlord to ensure compliance with lease terms
What are Hombie Travel Points?
Hombie Travel Points let you travel anywhere, anytime— even if no one wants to swap directly with you. You earn points when others stay in your home and spend them on stays in any member’s home worldwide, unlocking total flexibility and endless travel possibilities.
Can I exchange my home if I have pets?
Yes, many home exchangers have pets. It’s essential to discuss pet care arrangements with your exchange partner and outline responsibilities clearly to ensure both parties are comfortable. Are there any costs associated with home exchanging?
Whilst home exchange, house swaps and housitting or petsitting are free, there are membership fees to be part of our platform. You will find these on the pricing page. Basically for the cost of 1 night in a hotel you can have a totally different world.
Can I exchange a secondary residence or vacation home?
Yes, many members list secondary residences or vacation homes for exchange, offering flexibility in scheduling and availability whilst accumulating extra points.
Can I exchange homes internationally?
Yes, Hombie facilitates both domestic and international exchanges, allowing members to explore diverse destinations worldwide.
