How Do Hombie Travel Points Work?
Hombies travel points are a fantastic and exciting way to travel domestically and internationally without paying for accommodation. Its this easy.
- You list your home, holiday home, and/or apartment as a home exchange. We have guides to help you.
- You advise whether you want your listing to be a home exchange with pets, a house swap with pets or strictly a house sitting listing. You can have all three if you like.
- We will asign you your nightly Hombie points. Your points are worked out by us dependant on the type of home you are exchanging and other factors. For a full description see our Hombie points page.
- Once you have your designated Hombie points, you can go holiday hunting and find a home in the area you are looking to exchange or swap with pets. If you are wanting straight petsitters you can search our house sitters profiles. Our house sitters will also be notified that you are looking for a house sitter and will contact you through Hombie.
- If you are exchanging or swapping homes with pets. When you agree on a property and your host accepts you to use there home your points are deducted and go to your host. If you are looking for a house sitter the points are deducted from your account at the end of the house sit.
- Your holidays are now set for the dates you have advised through the Hombie platform.
Example 1
You Exchange your Home and Pets
5 days in France and 5 days in Italy. Yoohoo
Value of the home in France is 200 HP per day. You stay 5 days. 5 x 200 =1000HP.
Value of the home in Italy is 150 HP per day. 5 x 150 = 750HP
Total for holiday is 1,750 HP. You still have 250 HP to use now or in the future.
Example 2
You Swap your Home and Pets
You have found a home in an area you want to holiday at the time you want to holiday.
The home has a similar point rating to yours therefore you know it is around the same quality.
You and the other host agree on a direct swap.
You take care of their pets and they take care of yours.
No points change hands, you keep your points for another time.
Example 3
You want a House Sitter to look after your House and Pets
You have a holiday booked in Hotels or a cruise and need someone to look after the pets.
You find a reliable house sitter and book them in through Hombie. The cost of this is 300 Hombie Points. (pre-determined by the number of pets)
When you come back the agreed amount of points are allocated from your account to the house sitters account.
You still have 1700 points available for your next holiday or house sit. (2000 – 300 =1700 HP)
How Many Hombie Points for My Pets
The following are the amount of Hombie points per night that house sitters receive. These points are swapped over when the homeowner (host) has accepted the completion of the house sit.
